The Building Blocks of PV Systems: A Friendly Guide to Solar Components

Dear readers, happy to meet again. In this blog, we will discuss about the fundamental equipment’s used in the solar PV system. As, our customers include both the industry related as well as non-professional (related to the solar PV system). This blog will be helpful to understand the structure of the PV system and provide the answers of basic questions of the non-professional customers. We will use simple language and images to explain so that it won't be too technical. You will find it informative and gain valuable insights. Let's start together!

1. Solar Panels

Solar panels are the stars of the show! These shiny rectangles capture sunlight and convert it into electricity through the process of the photovoltaic effect. Solar panels are made up of individual solar cells, which are usually made from silicon. There are several types of solar panels, such as monocrystalline, polycrystalline, and thin-film, each with its own advantages and disadvantages.

2. Inverters

Once the solar panels generate electricity, it's time for the inverter to step in. The inverter's job is to convert the direct current (DC) electricity produced by the solar panels into alternating current (AC) electricity, that is further used in the residential as well as commercial applications. There are two main types of inverters: string inverters and micro-inverters. String inverters are more common and connect to multiple solar panels, while micro-inverters are installed on each individual board.

3. Mounting System

You'll need a sturdy mounting system to secure and properly position your solar panels. Mounting systems come in various styles, such as roof, ground, and pole mounts. The proper mounting system for your PV system will depend on factors like your available space, roof type, and local weather conditions.

4. Solar Batteries (Optional)

While not a required component, solar batteries can be a game-changer for your PV system. Solar batteries store excess electricity generated by your solar panels, allowing you to use that energy when the sun isn't shining. This can help you achieve greater energy independence and save money by avoiding peak electricity rates.

5. Monitoring System

A monitoring system is like the control center of the PV system. It tracks your solar panels' performance, energy production, and overall system health. Monitoring systems can be accessed through a computer or smartphone app, allowing you to monitor your solar investment and ensure everything runs smoothly.
